I was a tad — no, very — annoyed at a non-profit.

This organization extended the deadline for an application, citing the “trauma” of the times, given Trump’s election. These lily-livered Liberals (and I count myself as one) don’t know Trauma, yet. There’s much more to come — hopefully not at the catastrophic level — and we need to be prepared. I was frustrated, because I did what I was supposed to do, to get my application in on time. It’s not my fault if others couldn’t get it together. That’s THEIR fault! So many artistic people put their lives on hold after the election, and all started working on “resistance” tactics when the best resistance they could have posed is far behind them. So I get punished for doing things the correct way, and others get a break. So typical of life, but whatever.
The remainder of my week was fairly productive. I was very pleased that I started on my “Success Stories” filming. I decided on a clothing and makeup scheme. I bought a hat at a place on Bleecker street called “City Hats.” It’s a structured hat: not so much a Bowler, but something that has some character, without being overwhelming and also casting a shadow on my face, which I can’t afford, given the lighting situation, outside.
I need to keep the momentum on all of my projects going. This isn’t really a problem. I want to use flash cards to set up the “scripts” for the “Success Stories” videos and get them finished as quickly as possible. I think they can be great, they just need to be done, so I can work on my “ABC” cards and the Prospective Objects series, as well.
I shot the first piece, one about a politician or demagogue (I need to decide) at Corporal John A Seravalli Playground on Horatio street. It was, actually, perfect for the setting of this “speech” given by the character. I was able to get nine to eleven good shots. I had to take a couple twice and I’ll most definitely have to do some digital edits, but everything looks good. I should also look into sound effects for the piece. I’m also pleased to be getting into the “zone” of new work, as I need to.
I’ve been frustrated by not receiving a number of packages in the mail. I think I need to stop sending things to my home address, sadly, and have them sent to my partner’s work address. I’ve always been skeptical of the ability of my mail to get delivered, here, and now it’s really frustrating. The book that I ordered was work almost seventy dollars. I re-bought the book and hope that THAT one gets here. After that, I’m done with getting things delivered to this house.
I went to the Whitney Museum on Saturday and took a second look at the “Dreamlands: Immersive Cinema” show. There was also a small show about painting from the 1980s, which I enjoyed. I also saw the third in the “Ring” series of films at the 34th Street cinema. It was certainly just a cash-grab, but I enjoyed seeing it, nonetheless.
